If you were around in the 80′s, you might remember the CHIA pet and the commercial jingle, Ch, Ch, Ch, Chia! It played over and over. What we didn’t know then was that Chia was and is a “super food” and loaded with Super-Energizing Power…due to its unique blend of Protein, Essential Fats, Fiber, Complex Carbohydrates, and Antioxidants, chia is unrivalled among seeds and grains for providing energy to your body.
Chia contains super high levels of heart healthy EFA’s (Essential Fatty Acids) and is 62% Omega 3. It helps to stablilize your blood sugar, and the high fiber content helps to reduce cravings. Those balanced EFA’s also boost your brain power and your mood. And it’s a high quality protein that’s gluten free.
What to do with this tiny wonder seed? Chia seeds swell in liquid, so think of them as a tiny tapioca.. Add them to your smoothie for extra creaminess, or sprinkle them dry on your salad. I’ve been making a Chocolate Chia “Tapioca” Pudding that is satisfying and
delicious.
Here’s the recipe..
Chocolate Tapioca Pudding
Ingredients
1/2 cup Chia seeds
2 cups almond milk
15 drops vanilla creme stevia OR 3 tbsp agave or coconut nectar
1 tsp raw cacao
cinnamon- several shakes
Put all ingredients in a glass bowl. Mix very well to combine until you don’t see any powder left.
Cover and refrigerate for minimum one hour.
Enjoy!!

That sounds delicious! I’m actually picking up chia seeds this weekend when I go shopping, so I’m definitely going to try this! Thanks so much for sharing.
My neighbor and I have been simply debating this specific topic, he’s often seeking to show me incorrect. Your view on that is nice and exactly how I really feel. I just now mailed him this web site to point out him your individual view. After looking over your website I book marked and shall be coming again to learn your new posts!
Should the chia seeds be ground for this recipe? Also, how much chia is recommended in a day?
The chia seeds are whole chia seeds. I havent heard of any adverse reaction to too much chia:) If you’re using in a smoothie, I’d suggest a tablespoon.
Hope this helps, and let me know how you love it!

I’ve been on a raw food diet for a month, and so far, have lost about
15 pounds, which is a perfect slow loss. One of the first things I was introduced to on this diet was Chia seeds. I put them in everything, but my favorite way of eating them is to dip my banana into a small bowl of them after each bite to cover the end of the banana. The texture of the seeds with the banana is awesome. I’m addicted. Thanks for your recipe, I’ll try it. Did you use powder cacao?
Yes, I use raw cacao powder.. Good luck with raw living, Rachael!
